Team GB go 2-0 against Portugal, win 86-66
In what was a much improved performance Sunday, Team GB handled the visiting Portuguese team comfortably, running out 86-66 winners.
The victory on Sunday helped the home side close out the back-to-back against Portugal with a perfect record of 2-0, boosting their confidence ahead of their Hollywood clash against Team USA in Manchester on Thursday 19th July.
The game started slowly for Team GB, with Portugal stifling their opponents early on, holding on to a slender 9-4 lead in the process. But with the introduction of the live wire Lawrence with 6:00 minutes to go in the first, the game changed and as the half-time buzzer sounded, GB had established a 46-29 margin, punctuated by a Pops Mensah-Bonsu breakaway dunk.
With a first half 17 point cushion, Team GB were always in control. Kyle Johnson lead all scorers on the night with 20 points which highlighted the contribution from all quarters, helping Team GB leave Ponds Forge 86-66 winners.
Next up: Team USA.
