Euro duo added to Rocks roster
Glasgow Rocks have added some Eastern European flair to their roster with the signings of Croatian pair Fran Urli and Marin Zelalija.
Urli, 23, signs from Swedish Basketligen team Eco Orebro. The 6′ 8″ power forward averaged 8.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
Rocks coach Sterling Davis said: “Fran is a very talented, hard-nosed player who works extremely hard on both ends of the floor which he proved in Sweden last season. He will come in hungry to prove himself in the BBL.”
Zelalija, meanwhile, will make his professional debut in Scotland. The guard averaged 12 points per game in two years at Southwestern Oklahoma State and will provide backcourt depth behind veteran duo E.J Harrison and Chez Marks.
The 25-year-old lefty is a three-point specialist, with a 37% mark from beyond the arc.
Davis said: “He has a reputation of being a dead-eye shooter but he can also put the ball on the floor and create for others. He will definitely be an asset to us with his ability to stretch the defence with his shooting ability and at his size, will pose a problem for his opponents.”
