Our BBL players of the week – week 20

We went, we saw, we picked our BBL players of the week for week 20.

Karis Buckingham-Jones attended Milton Keynes Lions v Leicester Riders

Demarius Bolds (Milton Keynes Lions) – Another strong week for Demarius Bolds. His dominance throughout the Riders game was the difference for the Lions. Ending on a mighty 39 points and 8 assists, Bolds continued to rally up his team and it almost became a man on man battle on the court with Cameron Rundles.

Keith Firmin attended Milton Keynes Lions v Leicester Riders

Cameron Rundles (Leicester Riders) – In the Leicester Riders epic clash with the Milton Keynes Lions there were a number of candidates for my Player of the Week, not least Demarius Bolds who showed what an offensive machine he is with 39 points. But with the Riders winning, it’s only right that my selection comes from there and who better than Mr Big Shot himself, Cameron Rundles. A trio of buzzer beaters including the three point dagger with 4 seconds remaining hopefully silenced the whispers from the minority who suggested his performances weren’t up to scratch of late. Thirty points and a team W on the road will do that for a guy.

Dave Bell attended Sheffield Sharks v Guildford Heat

Mike Tuck (Sheffield Sharks) – 21 points, 12 boards and an MVP award for the big Canadian. A quiet season from the quirky Tuck has been lit up in the last month or so. The Sharks defensive frailties given their ever-changing limited rotation and now the departure of fans-favourite Justin Dobbins gives Tuck some big boots to fill. At present he is doing it and then some! The Sheffield nightlife had better beware…

Damian Cooper attended Worcester Wolves v Milton Keynes Lions

Carlos Fernandez (Worcester Wolves) – Coach Paul James also deserves an award this week for bringing this talented small forward to the BBL (and getting the best out of him). Week after week his game has improved, and he’s now regularly providing real excitement for BBL fans. His quick hands give him a great ability to deceive those guarding him either with the dribble or a subtle pass, and those same hands are also proving to be a turnover threat to opposing ball handlers. He has cemented his place in the Worcester starting five and put in a season’s best performance at the weekend just three assists off a triple double with 18 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.

Callum Carson attended Glasgow Rocks v Cheshire Jets

Adam Brown (Cheshire Jets) – All four of the Jets stars stepped it up, seemingly from nowhere, to clinch an outstanding come from behind victory, but nobody had as much impact as the 6’4’’ point guard. His game high 26 points and six assists proved crucial. He also nailed some crucial free throws at the death to send his team down south with the win.
