Goodson traded to Oakland
Carolina Panthers running back Mike Goodson has been traded to the Oakland Raiders, in exchange for offensive tackle Bruce Campbell.
Goodson played in the first four games of the season for the Panthers last year, not registering any rushing yards with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart sitting in front of him on the depth chart. He caught one pass for four yards, and racked up 250 yards on kick returns.
After those four outings, Goodson was plagued by injuries, and was eventually placed on injured reserve on November 16th.
This is a deal that certainly makes sense. Carolina needed to offload somebody at the running back position after Mike Tolbert, formerly of the San Diego Chargers, was added in free agency. As for Oakland, they needed to add depth after Michael Bush was signed up by the Chicago Bears.
Goodson will most likely be the second-string running back for Oakland, behind Darren McFadden, who missed the final nine games of the 2011 season with a Lisfranc injury.
