Nottingham’s Hellfire Harlots extinguish Bristol Harbour Harlots

Nottingham Roller Derby team, the Hellfire Harlots won their latest bout against Bristol Harbour Harlots on Saturday 2 June.

Held at Harvey Hadden Sports Complex in Nottingham, the Hellfire Harlots won with a final score of 203 – 118.

At the start of the bout, Bristol got a small and early lead but Nottingham surged ahead with Nottingham’s Coco de Maul making the most of a powerjam, scoring 25 points. This early powerjam meant that Nottingham’s Hellfire Harlots were able to hold on to their 30 point lead until half time was called. Half time score was Bristol 59, Nottingham 89.

Early in the second half, Bristol closed the points gap and for a moment it seemed as though they could possibly snatch the win from the Hellfire Harlots. Unfortunately for the Bristol Harbour Harlots, the pivot line start they initiated did not pay off when the Hellfire Harlots got a much-needed powerjam to increase the point difference from just 16 to 37. As the Bristol skaters seemed to tire, the Hellfire Harlots got another powerjam and dominated the game from that moment on.

El Visious, the Hellfire Harlots’ team captain said after the bout:

“Bristol put up an admirable fight and it was a hard but fun game. It was also great to have teams from Wolverhampton and Hull come to Nottingham to skate at our bout, and I’d like to thank all the skaters and their supporters for coming along and being a part of the day.”

The Wolverhampton Honour Rollers and Hulls Angels Roller Derby (H.A.R.D) played the warm up bout with Wolverhampton winning 196 – 123 points. Wolverhampton steamed ahead early on in the game but in the second half, Hull clawed back some much needed points but could not close in on Wolverhampton’s lead.

The Hellfire Harlots next games are away in Middlesborough on Sunday 8 July followed by Sheffield on Saturday 11 August.

The next home bout to be held in Nottingham will be on Saturday 8 September 2012 against the London Roller Girls Brawl Saints – put the date in your diary!
