“We only play seven men because of money” – Eagles Flournoy

With the UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders recently announcing their intentions to run with a seven man rotation this coming season, rival Eagles Coach Fab Flournoy, who last year had a squad of 11 but used a rotation of seven, explained his reasons for using just two reserves.

“I use a shorter rotation because we don’t have the finances for a bigger squad,” revealed Flournoy, blowing apart the theory that the Eagles were reaping significant financial rewards following their 17 trophies in 11 years.

“That was one of the problems we had this season and last season. We paid the price for it last season (2010/11) when I went down with pneumonia, Joe Chapman tore his Achilles and Trey Moore broke his foot.”

Injuries, it would seem, pose the biggest threat to Raiders Coach Gavin Love and his anticipated shortened rotation, as they look to go one step further than last season and claim some silverware in 2012.
