GB U20’s Connor Washington returns to Riders
Connor Washington has today been announced as the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders second signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of 2011 team-mate, Jamell Anderson.
The Bedfordshire-born 20 year old spent last season playing back-up minutes to 2011 star Cameron Rundles, something Riders coach Rob Paternostro feels he has the potential to eclipse in coming seasons:
“We are happy to get an opportunity to continue to work with him,” said Paternostro. “He impressed all of us last season with his natural talent but also with his work ethic.
“Even though minutes were tough to come by, he came to practice and competed every day and never stopped working.
“We feel like he is just scratching the surface with his potential as a basketball player and going into training camp he will have an opportunity to go out and compete for minutes with our basketball team.”
Washington has signed a 3 year deal with the club which allows him to continue his basketball development while allowing him to continue his Higher Education at Loughborough University.
Washington is currently competing in Bulgaria with the Great Britain Under 20’s
