Former Jacksonville star signs for D-League side
It was confirmed in the early hours of this morning that former Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Rider, Ayron Hardy, had been drafted sixth in the seventh round of the D-League draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder D-League affiliate team, the Tulsa 66ers.
Former Jacksonville University star, Hardy, spent last season in the BBL, his first in the league with the Leicester Riders, averaging 15.7ppg, 8.3rpg, 4.5apg, 2.7spg and one block per game as he helped his team to second in the league, a BBL Play-off runners-up medal and a host of individual honours.
Hardy’s move comes after a summer of uncertainty for the former Rider since leaving the BBL, with a number of european clubs expressing interest in the 23 year old but with none offering Hardy a suitable deal.
Hardy is the second member of the Riders 11/12 team to remain in the States involved in basketball, following Cameron Rundles’ decision to take up the position of Assistant Coach at Wofford.
