Harp Lager sponsorship is music to Giants’ ears
The reigning Elite League Champions Belfast Giants today secured a first class sponsorship with Harp Lager which will see the two organisations team up throughout the 2012/2013 ice hockey season. The partnership will see Northern Ireland’s number 1 lager – Harp – support the Giants by hosting a number of ‘Giant Talk’ supporters’ events in pubs across Northern Ireland as well as looking after home and away fans throughout the season.
The Giants are coming off a successful weekend in the Elite League, taking back the top spot following a dramatic 8-5 win against the Coventry Blaze on Sunday night.
Commenting on the partnership Colum Campbell, Harp Brand Manager, Diageo Northern Ireland said: “There is real synergy between the Belfast Giants and the Harp brand, both are number 1 in their game and have built up a long legacy of success over the past number of years.
“The Belfast Giants have hugely ingrained themselves as being part of the local community and successfully showcase Northern Ireland’s rich culture and heritage on a local and international stage. Through our iconic Harp brand which is steeped in history and tradition, we believe this partnership will demonstrate the perfect way to celebrate the cultural diversity that we have to offer.
“The Belfast Giants continue to make a significant contribution to the local economy with an estimate of over £500,000 added to the local tourism and hospitality industry each year through the support of travelling fans. At Diageo, we are also committed to the on-going development of investing in our local communities and helping build our vibrant tourism and hospitality sectors. We hope to play our part in continuing to strive for success and provide the best possible experience for supporters of the game across the province.”
Mark Brooks, Marketing Manager for the Giants said: “We are delighted to be beginning a new partnership with Harp Lager. Harp Lager have been great supporters of the Belfast Giants over the years and they believe in what we are trying to do for Northern Ireland. Harp is a brand and an organisation that we are very proud to be associated with. There are a lot of synergies between both teams and we are looking forward to working together to give our fans opportunities to engage with their favourite players away from the ice.”
