Christmas with BBL player…Josh McGinn

‘Christmas is here! Christmas is here! There’s reason to cheer! There’s reason to cheer!’ And over at BBL.org.uk, they’ve spoken to a collection of BBL stars from around the league about a range of festive-holiday topics from: where they will be spending Christmas, to what they’d get their coach for Christmas.

UKASF.com has access to the full interviews with each player and over the coming days, will be posting them for your enjoyment.

Here is…Mersey Tiger, Josh McGinn:

How will you be spending the Christmas period this year?
With family and my team-mate Joshua Lockett in my hometown of Ellesmere Port. It’s nice to go home from time to time.

What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?
My favourite thing these days is going home. This is my 4th year I’ve lived away from home so it’s nice to go back. Even though I’m 19 and supposed to be growing up, there’s still no better feeling than opening presents too.

It doesn’t matter whether you were a child or an adult; what’s been your best ever Christmas present?
My best ever Christmas present is an in-ground basketball ring I got in my garden at the age of 6, that’s still going strong today (but my sister works out on it now).

What presents have you asked for this year?
This year I genuinely have asked for some socks and boxer shorts. Usually they are the presents people don’t open till a week after Christmas but right now that’s the only thing I need. I have just treated myself to the I Phone 5 but that doesn’t count.

What do you enjoy more: the giving or receiving?
Depends who I’m giving to. If it’s to my sister, I do enjoy giving because its usually something different every year, but to my parents it’s pretty boring because its same old every year. Who doesn’t love receiving presents though?

Any Christmas traditions you’d like to share?
Because I’m a mad Everton fan, usually Everton play at home on Boxing Day so I like to go to that. Looking to go this year too. COYB!

If you had to get your coach a Christmas present, what would it be?
A new mobile phone so that he could text back from time to time (Personal joke). LOL. Other than that, I would love to give the guy his first BBL win.

And finally, what is your Christmas wish for the rest of the BBL season?
I want to get a couple of wins under my belt with the Tigers and personally prepare myself for the Great Britain U20 team in the summer.
