Please take me out to the ball game
Here at UKAmericansportsfans.com our man Jonathan Northall caught up with San Francisco Giants diehard Greg Proops last season to talk about his baseball obsession. Sitting around the editor’s desk in preparation for the return of the boys of summer, we compiled our list of guys and gals we want to go to a ball game with – after Greg that is.
#5 – Kate Hudson
We could have compiled a list of A-Rod’s ex-girlfriends but went with the born to Rom-Com actress Kate Hudson. Proof that Goldie does indeed get the Hawn, Hudson has baseball in her water, as the man who brought her up, actor Kurt Russell played in the minors. For those interested in Kurt’s stats click here. Just like her step-father though, Kate escaped from New York when she split with Rodriguez and is more likely to be seen watching little league than the majors these days – so despite her pedigree, that’s why she’s propping up our five.
#4 – Paul Rudd
A video of Rudd talking about the Royals is an editor’s dream, and Rudd is a director’s dream with his consistently brilliant performances in all that he does. We don’t have to say anymore we’ll leave it to Rudd, but a day at The K with Paul and his buds is on our agenda.
#3 – Zooey Deschanel
The thoroughly quirky Deschanel would be a loose cannon of a partner likely to burst in to song and dance during any innings break. Keep her under wraps until the middle of the seventh and let her go – a joy to behold as she entertains you and the rest of block 3. Zooey’s got form too, having walked out in Detroit to sing the Star Spangled Banner in game 3 of last year’s World Series.
#2 – Maria Menounos
Not so well known on these shores, the charming Menounos is a sporty gal. Having cut her teeth in serious news and documentary land, she has found her way to the lighter side of TV and has forged her own acting career. Medford born Menounos has taken to the diamond at Yankee Stadium to play in the 2010 MLB Celebrity Softball game. A WWE diehard – a seat in the bleachers next to Menounos would leave a permanent smile on our face.
#1 – Larry David
You’ll have to excuse the word play but we’d find it very hard to curb our enthusiasm if going to a game with Yankee’s loving Larry. For all you curb fans out there, here’s a piece of World Series history that will bring a smile to your face. Unless you’re a Red Sox fan that is – Let’s Go Mets!
