Horne re-signs for his tenth year at Fife
Fife Flyers this evening confirmed the re-signing of veteran British defenceman Kyle Horne for the 2013/14 EIHL season.
Horne, who returns to Fife for what will be his tenth season, is seen as a vital signing according to head coach Todd Dutiaume.
Horne, 32, has made over 400 appearances for Flyers since his debut season in 1996/97 and has also had spells with Slough Jets (EPL) and Edinburgh Capitals (EIHL), as well as having represented team GB on 25 occasions.
“I have always said that having Kyle in our team is like having an extra import d-man and we have been actively seeking to keep Kyle for this coming season,” Head Coach Todd Dutiaume said.
“When Kyle is fully fit and on top of his game he is like an extra import for us and he had a great season last year which he showed just how good he is.
“Kyle demonstrated last season that if you are a good player you can adapt your own game around your defensive partner and he worked really well with Zach [Carriveau] in defence.”
Horne confirmed he was delighted to return and wants to see the improvement continue from last season: “I am really pleased to be back for next season.
“Once again Todd and Danny are putting together a really strong team and I am glad to be able to be apart of that. Last season we made great progress and came close to winning the conference. This time round though I want us to go that little bit further and I would love to get my hands on some silverware.
“I am looking forward to the start of the season now and can’t wait to get started again.”
