Chez Marks is solid as a Rock
The Glasgow Rocks have announced the sensational signing of former Cheshire Phoenix captain Chez Marks. The veteran becomes the Rocks’ second new signing of the summer, joining ex-Lions centre Daniel Northern in making the move to Scotland.
The 6’ 3’’ shooting guard said: “I am very blessed and so excited to be part of the Glasgow Rocks. Over my years in the BBL I have played against Coach Davis numerous times in Glasgow. The city was beautiful, the people were very respectful, the fans were incredible and the organisation was very professional. That drew my interest in becoming a Rock.”
Marks, who lead the BBL with 22.8 points per game last season, added: “My expectations this season are very high. All I want to do is win and bring home some trophies this year. I want to say thanks to the owners as well as Coach Davis on giving me the opportunity to become a Glasgow Rock.”
Sterling Davis admitted Marks’ ability to maintain team morale at testing times for the embattled Cheshire franchise last season showed the veteran has the ability to be a leader not just on the floor, saying: “It is always good to have a guy who will be a players leader on the court and Chez showed that leadership last season taking on a huge task for his teammates.”
The Texan added: “That is an attribute any successful team needs; a teammate to be that voice when the coach is not enough and sometimes that voice is just by leading by example.”
The Rocks will be looking to add to their roster in the coming weeks, with open trials set to take place on Saturday.
