Probable NFL Milestones for 2013: Head Coaches and Teams

This week we are bringing you several posts on stats to keep a watch over as the 2013 NFL season commences. We’ll look at player stats throughout the week, but right now Gary Jordan takes a look at probable upcoming milestones for Head Coaches and Teams.

HEAD COACHES

Bill Belichick, the current New England Patriots head coach needs just 5 more wins to overhaul Chuck Noll for 5th place in the all-time in coaching wins. He has 205 wins in 18 seasons.

Mike Shanahan has to have at least a 9 win season to go past recent Hall of Fame inductee Bill Parcells for 10th pace in the all-time list. He has so far amassed 175 victories in 19 years.

New Kansas City Chiefs playcaller Andy Reid needs 10 wins to become the 21st head coach to achieve 150 wins.

TEAMS

The Green Bay Packers are closing in on a huge milestone, and they should get to this landmark in 2013. They need just 10 regular season wins to be the 2nd team in NFL history to have 700 wins. They would be behind their great rivals the Chicago Bears (722)

Another team steeped in history the Pittsburgh Steelers require just 1 win to become the first AFC team to gain 600 wins, they will hope to get that as early as the first week when they host the Tennessee Titans.

Last year’s Super Bowl losers San Francisco, need just 5 wins to reach 500 all-time wins, a target the 49ers should achieve by mid-season.

San Diego Chargers have shown some inconsistency of late, but they do have a chance to reach 400 wins should they see off the Houston Texans on the opening week Monday Night Football, if not it won’t take long to gain the 1 win it will take to reach their target.

The Tennessee Titans may find 8 wins a tough ask this year, but should they do it they too will have reached 400 all-time wins.
