Doucet helps down Edinburgh on his debut
Newcomer Guillaume Doucet felt his first showing in a Rapid Solicitors Hull Stingrays jersey could not have gone better.
Claiming two goals and four assists in a stellar performance, the 26-year-old Canadian forward helped the Stingrays trounce Edinburgh Capitals 9-0 in a challenge game at Hull Arena.
His line with Jereme Tendler, last season’s top goalscorer in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League, and Matty Davies clicked from the outset.
Speaking post-game, Doucet said: “It was good to get the first game out of the way and to get the legs going. They were a bit heavy at the end there.
“But it was good for our confidence and my line with Tendler and Davies had some chemistry. Both guys can skate and have speed and that suits my game.
“I don’t feel any pressure to score the goals – I will just go out there and do my best.”
Doucet will look to build on his impressive start when Stingrays take on Sheffield Steeldogs at iceSheffield tonight in the first leg of the Bradfield Brewery Cup.
