EIHL Game Day Summary: Panthers 4 Clan 2
Clan made Panthers work for it, and a final period saw the Scottish team out-shoot the hosts 17 to 6.
The first period was very equal, with both teams having chances but not able to convert until late on. Clarke put Panthers in front on the power play. Clan used their own man-advantage to level the score minutes later through Nathan Moon.
The second period as the first was a tight affair, with a late flurry of goals and could have gone either way. It was Panthers who once again went ahead, Bob Wren making it 2-1, before Lachowicz extended the lead and put Panthers in control. The score was reduced to just one goal with 40 seconds left in the period, Scott Aarssen pulling one back for Clan with the man advantage.
It took just under five minutes of the third period for Matt Ryan to make it 4-2 in Panthers’ favour. Braehead never gave up and in the process of looking for goals, they out shot Panthers. Nottingham had to shuffle their lines around when they lost defence man Henley to a personal misconduct with just over 10 minutes left. The visitors didn’t manage to get back into the game and Panthers’ backbone Kowalski held firm for the win.
