Blazers at Arrows

This weekend sees the Bracknell Blazers travelling to meet the Essex Arrows in the NBL Pool A. It was the Arrows who started the season in a blaze, with a 6-2 win against last year’s champions the Richmond Flames on Opening Day. The Flames turned up the heat however in game two of the doubleheader, as Chesterton couldn’t match Matt Gilbert who had picked up the win in game one. The Flames were big winners with a 11-2 win in game two.

The Blazers also recorded a win and a loss in their first weekend of action, sharing the spoils with the Pirates. After a 5-0 win for Bracknell, 25 runs were scored in game two and only one run separated the sides in a 13-12 win for Croydon.

That was Bracknell’s only outing so far this term, but the Arrows went up against the Mustangs in a doubleheader on 17 April. A bad day at the office saw the Essex side packing up their things after game two, with a 1-3 record for the season. The Mustangs who are currently 4-0, won the two games 5-0 and 8-2 respectively.

So both these sides can seize an early advantage in the pool, as they both have just the one win after four. The first pitch is thrown in game one at 12pm at the Townsend Leisure Park, Waltham Abbey this Sunday (8 May). Game two is scheduled for a 2:30pm start.
