Boomer Sooner

ukamericansportsfans have adopted the Oklahoma Sooners Football Team as our official team for the 2011/2012 season. If you haven’t got a college team yet, then look no further than the Sooners. We will be following the Sooners throughout the season, and following Oklahoma’s #21, UK born Linebacker Tom Wort.

Wort was born in Crawley in Sussex and gives hope to every UK youngster who dreams of playing competitive football in the States. As a Freshman Tom posted some great stats, including bagging the fifth highest total number of sacks in a season during the Coach Stoops era. The Coach is entering his 13th year in charge and took the Sooners to the 2000 National Championship.

The Sooners are the Big-12 Conference defending champions, and are fancied to repeat that feat in 2011. College Football returns in September and is shown on ESPN America in the UK. Oklahoma open up their campaign against Tulsa on Saturday 3 September in Norman. They are being shown live on ESPN against Florida State early on in the season, but we are still awaiting confirmation of the schedule for UK viewers.
