In through the out door
Just days after Defensive Tackle Kelly Gregg was released by the Baltimore Ravens, he has been snapped up by AFC West Contenders the Kansas City Chiefs.
There had been rumours that the Ravens had been planning to regain the services of the Nose Tackle for a cut in salary, but the Chiefs moved fast for the veteran who played all 16 games for Baltimore last season.
With Ron Edwards moving to Panthers this off season, Kansas were on the lookout for a replacement NT. Gregg has reportedly signed for the Chiefs on a one year deal. A consistent performer in his 12 year career, Gregg’s experience in the line could free up linemen such as Tamba Hali to pressure the QB. The Chiefs had a nothing short of abysmal sack record in 2008 and 2009, but things improved in 2010, with Hali recording 15 for the season.
Head Coach Haley has never outwardly been concerned with his team’s ability to put the QB on their back however, and has been quoted as saying there are other ways to rush the pass. Whatever Coach Haley believes, Gregg is a welcome addition to the Kansas defensive line.
