Glasgow sign DeAundre Cranston

The Glasgow Rocks are proud to announce the signing of 6’9″ big man DeAundre Cranston to fill the void down in the post position.

Cranston’s size, length and rebounding ability is set to be a great commodity for the Rocks in the frontcourt and his scoring ability in and around the basket will make him a hard man to contain. Coach Sterling Davis has great faith that DeAundre will be the big man that the Rocks need to keep other BBL big men quiet.

“DeAundre is a guy we are hoping we haven’t seen here in a while, to really control the paint on both ends of the floor.  He has always been known as an excellent rebounder throughout his career in the SEC which is one of the premier conferences within division 1.  He is very springy for his size which will bode well within this league.  Not only is DeAundre a good interior performer, he is also able to step out and knock down the 3 point shot if called to do so.”

Cranston comes from a great University in the University of Mississippi, and made his professional debut in Uruguay playing for Montevideo Basketball Club last year, before sustaining a season ending injury. Cranston was averaging 17ppg and 11.5 rpg before his untimely injury cut his rookie professional season short.

“DeAundre played in South America last season and got off to a great double-double average before an injury cut his time short there.  He is coming in hungry with the want to prove he belongs at the professional level. ”

With the BBL Season just around the corner, the Rocks squad is slowly coming together, with a few more signings still on the way. The most important position left to fill will be the shooting guard position to aid veteran EJ Harrison in the backcourt.

The Glasgow Rocks begin their preparations for the new season in September. Rocks fans will get their first glimpse of the team on September 18th when the Rocks host their first Official Camp of the new season and also stage a Meet the team event straight after the camp. This will be closely followed by the Rocks Pre-Season fixture against the travelling USA Select basketball team on the 19th September, with the tip-off scheduled for 7:40pm.

Tickets for both Events are on sale now at www.glasgowrocks.co.uk.
