The final piece in the Jigsaw
Following a busy summer with three signings already through the door at Sport Central, player/coach Fab Flournoy has confirmed that the club is in negotiations to secure the services of former Eagle Drew Lasker.
The ex-Plymouth Raiders star made an impressive impact during the final weeks of the Eagles ill-fated 2010-11 campaign. Quickly establishing himself as a fan’s favourite, the Houston-born Lasker would undoubtedly be a popular choice to fill the Eagles final roster spot.
A two-time All American at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Lasker has a wealth of experience in the BBL suiting up for 5 seasons in Plymouth before his brief spell in Newcastle. He looks the ideal man for an Eagles team determined to put last year’s barren campaign behind them.
Word from Sport Central suggests that despite two blow-out wins over Glasgow Rocks and Durham Wildcats last weekend, Flournoy has been coming down hard on the Eagles squad in his quest for perfection. Tuesday’s practice was cancelled and replaced by a two hour video session where every move and play from the weekend’s games were analysed to iron out any problems as early as possible in the new season. Apparently a few eyebrows were raised among the new boys, who may have expected back to back 22-point wins to be celebrated rather than critically unravelled. Welcome to the world of the Newcastle Eagles!
