Worthing win at Warriors

Worthing Thunder came away with a confidence boosting victory, as they routed Leicester Warriors 54-86 away from home on Sunday.

Leicester’s team were no match for a full-strength Thunder side, who led the game all the way through. It was an excellent team performance from Thunder with all of the team getting involved and contributing to the win. American’s Marcus Tullis and Chris Talley led the away side in scoring with 17 apiece.

As expected, Worthing’s experience and strength in depth proved too strong for the Warriors, and the hard-working Thunder defence really played a part in stifling the home team. Only one Leicester player managed to reach double-figures in scoring, with 6’8” British forward Emile Hopkins scoring 12.

It was an excellent synchronised display from Worthing, with point guard Vinnie Darpino’s calming influence in the back-court very much apparent on the scoreboard. He added 13 points of his own. Worthing’s next game is a home fixture against the Tees Valley Mohawks on Saturday.
