Al Horford: Three Is The Magic Number
With NBA 3X visiting London this weekend and Atlanta Hawks star, Al Horford, being drafted third overall in the 2007 draft, it seemed appropriate to only ask the NBA forward questions that referred to the number ‘3‘.
If you were forming a 3-on-3 team of current NBA players, who would be your three guys and why?
“I would choose Derrick Rose, I would choose Lebron James and I would choose Dwyane Wade. Three-on-three is a different style of play. Those three guys are very explosive, they can get to the rim and can create for one another. It would be a tough team to guard.”
Name the best three players in the NBA today.
“Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant.”
Which trio of stars is the best ‘Big Three‘ in the league right now?
“You can’t argue right now that the best big three are the Heat big three: Wade, Bosh and James. They’ve won back-to-back championships. They’ve done it in a dominating fashion so you have to say they’re the best ones.”
Top three power forwards in the league?
“Excluding myself? I would consider Pau Gasol as a power forward so I’d probably say Pau Gasol, Zach Randolph and..there are a lot of good guys..I mean, Carmelo was playing more of a four this year, I know he’s a small four but I’m going to say him.
Top three centres in the league?
“Obviously, I’d say Dwight Howard. I’d say Joakim Noah – I think he’s very dominant and I like Omer Asik a lot too, he’s come along a long way.”
Finally, top three highlights of your career.
“Starting in College, winning back to back NCAA titles, that was very special for me, being named two-times to the All star game that was also special. Beating Orlando in the play-offs (2010/11) to be able to move onto the conference semis and play Chicago.
“Orlando, the year before that, had swept us really bad – it was an awful season. They always had their number with us, so I think that being able to break through that and beat them at their own game was a very great feeling for us.”
- Al Horford and the Atlanta Hawks will play the Brooklyn Nets and The O2 Arena on January 16th, as part of the NBA Global Games 2014. Tickets go on sale in October. For more information go to NBA UK Facebook and follow @NBAUK on Twitter.
