BAFA Sapphire Series Round 5 recap
The first Sunday of April saw the fifth and final round of this year’s 5v5 Sapphire Series. The competition has been hugely successful and looks to be a great stepping stone for the women’s game to develop further into an 11v11 series later this year.
All the regular round games may have been completed, however, there is still the matter of wrapping up this series and a Finals day to come early next month.
A couple of notable events during the day’s play – the Lions continued their impressive run of form, sweeping their opponents and only conceding one score whilst doing so, and the Braves gaining their first ever win in the Series.
Results from the fifth round of the Sapphire Series:
Derby Braves 6-27 Hertfordshire Tornadoes
Southampton Stags 0-28 Birmingham Lions
Hertfordshire Tornadoes 39-12 Southampton Stags
Birmingham Lions 34-0 Derby Braves
Hertfordshire Tornadoes 6-20 Birmingham Lions
Derby Braves 8-2 Southampton Stags
