BBL Betting: Saturday 5th January
Welcome back and welcome to 2013 – where we hope to bring you some more of the best British Basketball League odds out there.
I ended 2012 on something of an epic run, and if you all followed up on that you’d have had a very merry Christmas like my own.
If not, do not fear as I’m hoping it rolls on to this year as well!
We have two games today in the BBL, and the Scottish battle in the Trophy, but as no betting is featured for that competition, a quick overview says to me that Glasgow will remain strong to progress into the next round. Most know that tomorrow is when the real highlight of this round of the BBL Trophy takes place.
First this Saturday in the BBL will see the Wildcats travel down to Surrey Heat, in probably the easier of the two games to call.
Surrey are now well in the driving seat in third place, and are without doubt keeping the pressure up high in the table, and with what should be an easy victory at home against Durham, they will sit happily second if Leicester cannot overcome Wolves, but more on that later.
Durham have a bigger fixture against Cheshire Phoenix to think about to pick up vital, and more achievable points, on offer, but with Ralph Bucci picking up December’s player of the month award, there’s always that threat.
For me though, I cannot see any other outcome than a Heat W, but the value on this game isn’t brilliant, but after a look over, it seems that the winning margin could be the best bet.
Surrey to win by 13-16pts – 6/1 @ William Hill
The second game we have is Leicester Riders at home to Worcester Wolves, and this has the edge to be a classic.
Worcester have the squad to really change things this season now, but Leicester are also hoping to ease in to their BBL Cup Final in just over a week, with a victory here.
Leicester haven’t had much in the way of real competitive basketball in almost three weeks, as the Leopards game seemingly was only going to end in Riders’ favour.
However, I am still of the thinking that Wolves can really upset the top sides, and this isn’t a game Leicester will have wanted a week ahead of a final.
The outright again on Worcester leaves me wanting to bite the hands off the bookies.
