BBL’s Super Sunday Betting: 16th December
After a Saturday with no games, we see a bumper set of four this Sunday, with plenty to warm you up after this cold and frosty week. Hopefully, a few of you backed the couple of winners from Friday night, especially the big 17/2 on a Giants win by 1-3pts.
The 4pm showing at Pavilions sees the visit of top of the table Leicester Riders. It was a tough defeat to take last Sunday against a determined and dogged Newcastle, but that will no doubt spur on Raiders to think that they are more worthy of the .615 record they currently hold.
Which is why the bookies have gone in with the home side as favourites today, but Anthony Rowe returns to Plymouth but in a different jersey, hoping to help his new side maintain their one loss only record. The only thing that does look certain is that this game won’t pan out like Riders’ previous five, where they have claimed victory by 20pts+…
This could be swings and roundabouts though, and I have a feeling Leicester could edge it, but not without a strong first two quarters from Plymouth.
Plymouth/Leicester (HT/FT) – 11/2 @ William Hill
Next we see Mersey Tigers travel up to Glasgow Rocks; and it’s not looking good. Unless you bet on the exchanges (pointless) you can only find odds on Glasgow to win outright with Paddy Power at 1/200 (also pointless).
I’m starting to worry now whether or not they can find this elusive victory, but that is for another week. Glasgow will be smarting off a second half loss to Sharks on Friday night, and with an average points loss per game of 32.5, they will be out for the kill against the Merseysiders, despite a full side crossing the border, and the only value comes in the shape of points spread with a Glasgow win.
Glasgow win (-26pts) – 17/20 @ William Hill
If Leicester lose in Plymouth, then Newcastle Eagles have the chance of topping the table with a victory away to London Lions, but having improved over the past month, this could pose more of a challenge than many think, especially with Vince’s side having had an extra few days to prepare for this clash. However, a win by just under single digits would be a fair result here.
Newcastle to win by 7-9pts – 7/1 @ William Hill
Finally, at 5:30pm, we have another Cheshire-Sheffield tussle. With Sheffield’s heroic performance in the second half at home to Glasgow, could that roll on to this evening? Or could the frustration of losing so narrowly mean Cheshire hit back and hit back hard?
It will always be a difficult task for Phoenix with key player Chez Marks unavailable, but with this being the final game before Christmas, and the determination to come out of this weekend with at least one victory, the HT/FT looks the best bet for Cheshire.
Cheshire/Cheshire (HT/FT) – 29/20 @ William Hill
