Christmas with BBL player…David Watts

‘Christmas is here! Christmas is here! There’s reason to cheer! There’s reason to cheer!’ And over at BBL.org.uk, they’ve spoken to a collection of BBL stars from around the league about a range of festive-holiday topics from: where they will be spending Christmas, to what they’d get their coach for Christmas.

UKASF.com has access to the full interviews with each player and over the coming days, will be posting them for your enjoyment.

Here is…Manchester Giants forward David ‘Tintin’ Watts:

How will you be spending the Christmas period this year?
I’ll be heading home to Mansfield in Nottinghamshire to spend a few days with my friends and family.

What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?
Spending time with my family. I very rarely get to see them during the season so it’s nice to hang out with them.

It doesn’t matter whether you were a child or an adult; what’s been your best ever Christmas present?
I remember when my brother and I asked for a basket for the back yard and my dad, being the joker he is, got us an inflatable one for our room. Looking back, it was pretty funny although I’m sure he regretted it when we had dunk contests in our bedroom.

What presents have you asked for this year?
I never really know what to ask for as I already have everything I want or need. I like the surprise of not knowing what I’m going to get!

What do you enjoy more: the giving or receiving?
I enjoy the the giving so much more. I’m terrible with surprises and it’s such an ordeal keeping them to myself.

Any Christmas traditions you’d like to share?
Nope haha sorry!

If you had to get your coach a Christmas present, what would it be?
Easy: A crate of Guinness for coach Jones would be happily received I’m sure!

And finally, what is your Christmas wish for the rest of the BBL season?
I’m hoping for a better performance game to game for the Giants. We have shown what we’re capable of in flashes so I guess what I’m asking Father Christmas for is some consistency.
