Christmas with BBL player…Keith Page
‘Christmas is here! Christmas is here! There’s reason to cheer! There’s reason to cheer!’ And over at BBL.org.uk, they’ve spoken to a collection of BBL stars from around the league about a range of festive-holiday topics from: where they will be spending Christmas, to what they’d get their coach for Christmas.
UKASF.com has access to the full interviews with each player and over the coming days, will be posting them for your enjoyment.
Here is…the Durham Wildcats’ Keith Page:
How will you be spending the Christmas period this year?
Seeing family in the morning and then spending the rest of the day with the wife watching Christmas telly.
What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?
The food. Christmas dinner in my house is always an event and there’s always some outstanding leftovers, not to mention Christmas ham, mince pies etc.
It doesn’t matter whether you were a child or an adult; what’s been your best ever Christmas present?
I’ve had a few great gifts over the years. I remember getting a BMX one year when I was 11 or so and it had these silver stunt pegs on it. I was buzzing when I woke up and saw it at the end of my bed.
What presents have you asked for this year?
My great aunty used to say ‘Those who ask, don’t get and those who don’t ask, don’t want’ so I just wait until the day and see what Father Christmas brings! I’ve been teaching myself guitar so hopefully I’ll get some stuff for that; capo, digital tuner etc.
What do you enjoy more: the giving or receiving?
It depends. If I know the person wants it, then giving a great gift is a buzz because you know they’ll be chuffed. But if you’ve gone out on a limb then there’s a lot of apprehension about ‘will they like it?’, ‘how will I know if they like it or if they’re faking?’. So I’ll go with receiving, who doesn’t like getting gifts!?
Any Christmas traditions you’d like to share?
Men vs. Women Pictionary at the family party on Boxing day is always classic.
If you had to get your coach a Christmas present, what would it be?
A play-off spot!
And finally, what is your Christmas wish for the rest of the BBL season?
I want to go through the second half of the year with a winning record and make the play-offs.
