Colts acquire Richardson in trade for 2014 first round pick
The Indianapolis Colts made a big wave in acquiring the services of Trent Richardson in exchange for a first round pick in the 2014 Draft.
Richardson was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2012 and had a successful rookie season with a record tying 11 touchdowns for a Cleveland rookie back. The trade is quite stunning as he was considered a foundation for what the Browns were trying to achieve in turning their franchise around.
New Head Coach Rob Chudzinski clearly feels that Richardson was not the right man for his system and has taken the bait of a first round selection next year.
For the Colts it means they now have another excellent weapon in their talented roster. Quarterback Andrew Luck will be relishing the fact that his play will now include Richardson who will only make the Colts stronger all round.
Richardson has struggled a little with niggling injuries since entering the league, but he is without doubt a star. Time will only tell if this has been a blockbuster steal of a trade, for now though the future looks good in Indy.
