Creppy bolsters Phoenix for playoff and Trophy run-in
Cheshire Phoenix tonight announced they had strengthend their roster with the signing of dual US/British guard Michael Creppy.
The 6ft 3in University of California Riverside grad is familiar with the BBL already having been a part of the Worcester Wolves set up in 2011, and has since played out in Germany, Denmark and most recently, Greece.
“It is great to be back in the BBL,” said Creppy on his return to these shores. “And I am lucky that a form team was interested in picking me up.
“I hope that I can help the Nix maintain their momentum and win a trophy this season.”
Phoenix head coach John Lavery is pleased to have brought in Creppy.
“We are doing well with Reggie and Devan and have brought Chris Pearce in as cover, now we have comprehensive cover,” Lavery said.
“I have heard a few players beginning to say they hate playing us because we are strong and tall and hit hard. All I can say to that is great, and with Michael perhaps it will be a little more unpleasant facing us from now on!”
Such an experienced addition will give rise to the notion that the Cheshire side could be targeting their first piece of silverware after almost a nine-year wait as a franchise, having been given a favourable BBL Trophy draw and cementing themselves in the playoff spots, currently sat in seventh position in the BBL Championship.
