Duitaume adds Tim Hartung to Fife roster
Fife Flyers are pleased to confirm the signing of American defence-man Tim Hartung, 29, for the 2013/14 Rapid Solicitors Elite League campaign.
The 6’0″ defence-man joins Fife after playing last season in the French Ligue Magnes with Villard-de-Lans where he was the league’s 3rd top points scoring defenceman with 25 points (5 goals + 20 assists) and 8 PIM.
Hartung is a graduate from North Michigan University, where he iced with new signing Andy Contois, before signing with Dayton Gems where he spent 3 seasons.
Whilst icing with Dayton Gems in the CHL, Hartung iced in 104 games and registered 69 points (22 goals + 47 assists) and 24 PIM.
Head coach Todd Dutiaume was delighted to add some offensive power to his defence. “Tim is a very mobile d-man and he moves the puck really well. He has produced a lot of offensive numbers everywhere he has played and we will be looking to him to help create offence here too.
“We have heard a lot of good things about Tim. He will be a good leader to have at the back and I am pleased to be able to bring in a guy of his calibre in at the back.”
Hartung spoke of his excitement about joining Fife and is looking forward to the new challenge. “I am really looking forward to the opportunity of playing in Fife. English speaking was a big reason for me coming to the EIHL. Having played in France last season I found the language barrier tough to handle being my first year out of the US. I’m big into golf which really attracted me to Scotland.
“I am a puck moving defence-man who sees the ice well. If needed can play some forward as well. I know that Fife has a long history and I am really looking forward to joining the club and contributing to that great history.”
