Edinburgh Capitals 1 Nottingham Panthers 5
The home opener for Capitals saw the very much fancied Panthers in Scotland’s capital and despite some dogged resistance from the home side there was only ever going to be one winner, with the visitors always in control.
David-Alexandre Beauregard kept up his hot start to the season with a double, the second of those being his 100th goal in all Elite League competitions, while a miserly defence kept Capitals to only 17 shots on Craig Kowalski during the sixty minutes of action.
Despite dominating possession it took Panthers until 16.41 to open the scoring when Matt Francis found the target. This relaxed the visitors and with 35 seconds of the period remaining Jordan Fox doubled the lead.
Beauregard grabbed his first of the game at 26.55 before Capitals gave their fans something to celebrate at 29.46 with a powerplay goal from Bari McKenzie. Panthers were not finished however and hit back to edge the period with a goal from GB star David Clarke at 35.22.
Only a single counter in the third period but it saw Panthers go nap as Beauregard fired in at 53.47 to ice a very comfortable win for Corey Neilson’s men.
