EIHL Game Day Summary: Blaze 7 Stingrays 4
The crowd at the Skydome saw an 11 goal thriller as the Coventry Blaze defeated the Hull Stingrays 7-4 in a Challenge Cup Group B game.
Blaze took the lead when Adam Henrich scored at 10.50 in the first period after a spell of domination. It wasn’t looking as rosy for the Midlands outfit when goalkeeper Mike Zacharias went off injured just three minutes later, throwing backup Adam Goss into the fray. Blaze went further in front through Ryan Ginand (PPG @ 24.53) before Hull levelled with Silverthorn (25.56) and Doucet (29.55).
At 38.51, Michael Henrich returned Blaze in front but the see-saw game continued as Matt Davies scored right on the buzzer. Coventry came out with more gusto in the third period and scored four times (Kallstrom, Ginand, A. Henrich, Tait) with only one reply from Hull (Doucet).
This win gets Coventry off the mark in the competition but leaves Hull a long road ahead with four losses from four games played.
