EIHL Game Report: Fife Flyers 1 Coventry Blaze 2 (won shootout)

Saturday night was topsy turvy affair, lots of penalties but by the end of the first period Flyers were in the lead one goal to nothing scored by Brit Steven Gunn at 15 minutes 57 seconds.

In the second period Flyers had chances to score a few more but couldn’t take them most of the second period was dominated by the Blaze with everything going through Ginand, but after 40 minutes it was still 1-0 Fife. In the third it was looking like Fife might hold on to the one goal lead as Flyers netminder Kevin Regan who faced 43 in regulation was stonewalling the Blaze but with nine minutes left a slapshot from the blue line found it’s way in to the bottom of the net blocker side and Michael Hendrick and the Blaze were rejoicing the ended 1-1 and went in to overtime

The extra period saw more outstanding goal tending from both goalies taking the game to penalties. After five each the Blaze came out on top.

Man of the match for the Blaze was Cale Tanaka and for the Flyers Netminder Kevin Regan
