EIHL Preview: Blaze at Panthers – 12 October 2013
All games between rivals Nottingham Panthers and Coventry Blaze are tense and full of excitement, and I’m sure this weekend’s game will be no different; it’s going to be an interesting one to say the least.
Nottingham travelled to Coventry last weekend for the first meeting of the season between the Midlands teams, but no-one expected the result that followed as Panthers ran out with a 6-1 victory.
Coventry went into the game with a line up of returning and new players, including a new coach, netminder and points scorer – hoping to make a positive start and amend the losses from last season.
As they raced into a 4-0 lead and looked set to shut out the Blaze, but were denied the clean sheet though when Kevin Harvey, who had earlier in the game taken on Brent Henley, put the puck past Craig Kowalski when he failed to hold the rebound. The goals and fights were to continue.
The game saw two more goals, another fight (Boxill’s first senior) and Panthers’ Chris Murray being thrown out for x-checking.
Both teams will be missing players for this one, Blaze have Olsen out injured, while Murray will be serving a one-game ban, that he picked up in the previous encounter.
I would like to say this one will be a closer scoreline then the last, but who knows what will happen when these two meet, one things for sure, Coventry will be looking for revenge and this is one not to be missed!
