EIHL Preview: Capitals at Flyers – 5 October 2013
Fife Flyers were 75 years young on Tuesday, and now four days later are back in action at the Auld Barn.
On Saturday, they face old foes from over the forth in the shape of the Edinburgh Capitals in the Challenge Cup.
Fife will be looking for their third win in the Challenge Cup group stages as they have won both previous games in the competition, although this will be the Caps’ first visit this year to Kirkcaldy.
They had a very tough time of it here last year and will be hoping to put some of that right this time around. Edinburgh should be starting with 11 imports and that will include the re-signed D-man Michel Dobron, who has returned on a two-year deal. The Caps’ form of late is not the greatest; 13 goals last weekend and only managed to score 2 in return not the kind of form you want to be in when coming to the Auld Barn.
As for the Flyers, Hartung is reportedly still be out, as is Jamie Wilson, so Fife should be playing with ten imports but after beating the Braehead Clan last week and the jubilant celebrations, the place is buzzing so hopefully Fife can take a positive approach in to the game – and take out of it two points to put them joint top of their Challenge Cup group.
Prediction: 5-1 in favour of the Flyers
