EIHL Preview: Giants at Panthers – 28 September 2013
The Giants have had a good start to the league and cup winning four out of their five games, including ending current league leaders Dundee’s unbeaten run. Their only loss so far came at home when they were shut out five – nil by Coventry.
Both teams will be looking forward to their first meeting of the season and on a high after both picking up four point weekends. Panthers will be without long term injury victim, defenceman Eric Werner, while Giants will still be without captain Adam Keefe who will be serving the last of his three game ban. Keefe was suspended by the League’s disciplinary committee, his 2+10 checking to the head penalty against Dundee was reviewed and upgraded to a match, this automatically carried a three game suspension.
Both teams have played four games, winning three and losing one, so at the moment there is not much between the teams, so this should be a good game for both sets of fans. Whoever wins will have the chance to go second on points.
This is Panthers only game this weekend, where as Belfast will travel to Hull on Sunday. I can see this being a very close game and may even go to overtime.
