EIHL Tweets of the Week 08/10-14/10 (Part I)

Ice hockey fans: the competition is on! There’s no denying the basketball writers of this parish have done a fine job garnering a regular readership, and it’s no wonder as they consistently produce engaging and entertaining content. It’s time for us to come into our own, hockey fans – so in a shameless act of plagiarism (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery) and moving on from my examination last season of the growing use of Twitter amongst EIHL players – here is the first edition of a brand new feature for your delectation: UKAmericanSportsFans.com EIHL Tweets of the Week.

Following too many folk on Twitter to catch up with your favourite EIHL stars? Worried you’ll miss pearls of wisdom the likes of which have never been Tweeted before? Fear not! I have trawled through in excess of 800 Tweets from no less than 136 of the little beauties from both past and present to bring you the cream of the Elite League Twitterverse! Behold!

The week began with one of the preferred topics of hockey players in general – food. Breakfast food, to be exact.

Soundly reasoned dietary advice for his fellow sportsmen from Cardiff’s Josh Batch, there. You can’t argue with science. Next – have you ever wondered, just HOW hard are hockey players? This is how hard:

Um, am I the only one who noticed this Tweet? Broke a PIECE of his ankle off?! Either Jade’s prone to hyperbole or he’s much, much harder than I expected!

Next up – you want news? We’ll give you news.

NHL player Tweets his signing before it’s broken officially by the club he’s signed for? Standard. Anyway, back to food.

Coventry’s Gerome Giudice begins an epic week of Tweeting about the aforementioned butchers, prompting questions as to what they have been giving him in return for his shameless promotion (well, pork parcels apparently).

The next of our EIHL Tweeters of the week, Cardiff’s Bari McKenzie, proves that sometimes, you’re really better off not catching a Twitter conversation in the middle.

Er, WHAT is, Bari? Actually, never mind. I don’t want to know. Let’s return to the topic of food, it’s much safer.

Another Weetabix-related Tweet. A popular breakfast this week, however I question how they serve it in Hull – Chris Sykes appears to have had his with fish.

More breakfast-related musings – it’s the most important meal of the day, and for NHLer Anthony Stewart, the revelation of crumpets is a recurring theme this week…

OK Gerome, we get it. What IS a ‘pork parcel’ anyway? A Canadian term for sausage roll?

If you promise to send me a pork parcel in the post I’ll call you whatever you like darling.

(Ed: It’s been a mountain of a week…so part two will be here later this evening!)
