Endinburgh Capitals 0 Belfast Giants 5

A 21 shot shutout for Stephen Murphy as Giants ended the weekend on top of the table with this straightforward blanking of Capitals in Scotland.

In reality the visitors were always in control and took the lead at 7.59 when Tom Dignard found the net. Benoit Doucet added a second at 12.07 to complete the opening period scoring.

Capitals were more in the game in the second period but fell further behind to the only goal scored by Robert Dowd at 22.57.

More dogged resistance by the home side against a Giants onslaught in the third period and they held out until 52.14 when Brock McBride made it 4-0 and the scoring was completed by ex Capital Ryan Crane with 55 seconds remaining to complete a comfortable win for Doug Christiansen’s men.
