Fan favourite Harrison back for new campaign at Rocks
A familiar face will be returning to the Glasgow Rocks for the 2013/14 BBL season as veteran guard E.J. Harrison has agreed a new one-year contract.
The 37-year-old first arrived in Glasgow in 2010 and has been a firm fan favourite in his three year stay north of the border thanks to his work ethic and commitment both on the court and in the community.
Rocks GM Daniel Bajwoluk said : “E.J. has been a great ambassador for the club. He brings great leadership qualities to the court which we all witness week in and week out, but what people don’t see is the crucial role he plays within our community projects. E.J. is our Rock and we are delighted to welcome him back.”
Harrison’s signing sees the Rocks roster rise to five for the upcoming season, with coach Sterling Davis and Gareth Murray returning to unite with new duo Daniel Northern and Chez Marks.
Davis said he was delighted to welcome back Harrison, with the ex-UConn Huskie having contemplated retirement.
“I feel very good about E.J. coming back. It seems every season now we have the conversation of retirement transpiring but I know he is a competitor and would like to go out on a winning note in bringing silverware to the team.”
“If you look at E.J.’s stats from his arrival in Glasgow to now, they haven’t really changed much at all. To have a guy still be able to perform at the same level but have more wisdom is invaluable.”
The former Heat and Lions guard has made 103 appearances in all competitions for the Rocks, holding a 15.0 PPG.
