Fife Flyers 0 Coventry Blaze 2

Fife took to the ice after years in the wilderness to once again play top flight hockey. Their first competitive match saw them up against a Coventry team who in the 9 years of the Elite league have won more silverware than any other team. However, last Wednesday saw them slump to their worst ever loss in those 9 years as they lost 10-1 against the Nottingham Panthers.

Despite losing, an early goal at 1.38 from the stick of Mike McLean, Fife more than held their own against the Midlands team. They gave up another goal before the end of the period as Owen Fussey at 13.18 netted on the powerplay.

Despite Coventry out shooting Fife three to one over the sixty minutes, these were the only goals of the game. Todd Dutiaume will no doubt be pleased with the result despite being heavily out shoot the Flyers did no disgrace themselves and tomorrow they again take on the Blaze as they travel to the Midlands.
