Freeman suspended
UPDATE: The Wolves have had confirmation from the league today that Freeman is actually suspended for the Mersey Tigers game on Friday 13 January (at Knowsley) and not the MK Lions game this Friday – 29/12/2011 at 2pm.
The Worcester Wolves have confirmed that Tommy Freeman picked up his second unsportsmanlike foul in the fourth quarter on Wednesday night and was ejected from the game
FIBA rules that govern the league state that a second unsportsmanlike foul results in a disqualifying foul and therefore the player is ejected. The league provides that a one match suspension be given to a player in these circumstances. Plymouth guard Michael Ojo suffered the same fate after being ejected earlier this month against the Wolves. Ojo missed the Raiders subsequent outing against the Rocks.
The reason for Freeman’s exit from the gym is also governed by the rules which state:
“Whenever the offender is disqualified according to the respective articles of these rules, he shall go to and remain in his team’s dressing room for the duration of the game or, if he so chooses, he shall leave the building.”
The Wolves can appeal the suspension but there is no indication as of yet that they intend to exercise that right of appeal.
