Game Preview: Flyers at Blaze – 15 September 2013
The second of Coventry’s games this weekend is against the Fife Flyers at the Skydome. Both the fans and the organisation will be looking for a dominant performance against one of the Gardiner conference teams in order to boost the side’s confidence and give the fans some hope after an average preseason and a disappointing first weekend.
Fife split their opening weekend losing to Cardiff but beating local rivals Edinburgh. There are a few familiar faces in the Flyers roster, Bobby Chaumont and Kyle Horne to name just two, but the Blaze are always happy to welcome Fife’s player-assistant coach Danny Stewart back to the Skydome. Stewart won three EIHL titles in four seasons with Coventry and still remains a fan favourite despite departing in the 2010/11 season.
Coventry are unlikely to have new signing Michael Devin in the line up as he will be processing his visa and is likely to arrive in time for the following weekend. The big question will be how much energy will the Blaze have expended over in Belfast the night before compared with Fife’s own exertions against Nottingham at home. This leads both teams to have a heavy travel load on Sunday and this game is likely to be won by the team that can find their legs quickly.
