GB U20’s Graham joins Carnegie
Leeds Carnegie today revealed GB U20’s star, Rowell Graham, will be joining the team for the forthcoming season.
The 6′ 5″ small forward helped his country claim the runners up spot at this year’s European Championship Division B tournament averaging throughout at 5.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Leeds Carnegie Head Coach, Matt Newby is delighted that Graham will be joining the side: “He has had a strong influence on the floor both domestically and on the international scene. He is an exceptional athlete which is complimented by a strong work ethic. This is testimony to the work which Harris Academy and England U18s coach, Steve Bucknall, have done with Rowell, who we would like to thank for his guidance and assistance in the process.
“We feel in this environment he will be able to continue to build and enhance his strengths whilst developing a more well-rounded game by focusing on aspects that have not necessarily come to the fore as yet. Going forward I can see nothing but positives and I feel the impact will be immediate,” Newby went on to say.
The London-born player has already joined up with his new teammates for pre-season training and is looking forward to the season ahead: “I have a good feeling about joining Leeds Carnegie and that it is going to enable me to raise my game to another level. We are going to make big things happen this year.”
- Graham’s first game in Carnegie colours will be the friendly game against Newcastle Eagles on Saturday 14th September at Leeds Metropolitan University Arena. Tickets are available through the club’s website www.leedscarnegiebasketball.co.uk
