Green Machine roll Sheffield Steel
This past weekend saw Sheffield Steel Rollergirls head north to Scotland to bout Auld Reekie Rollergirls Twisted Thistles in an action packed bout that saw the Thistles to a soaring victory over Sheffield with a final score of 246‐12.
The first scores saw the Thistles get lead jammer and put 9 to Sheffield’s 0. The amazing jamming by AARG’s Admiral Attackbar and Zillah, along with some impressive offensive play by blocker Crazy Legs, saw the Thistles consistently get lead over Sheffield in the first half, but not before Sheffield’s very own Rio got lead jammer and put 4 points on the board.
Sheffield jammers Ruby Whacks and Zombie SlayHer succeeded in getting lead jammer before the end of the first half, but were shut down by AARG’s impressive defensive pack strategy and weren’t able to out any points on the board. In the second half, the Thistles continued their winning streak seeing their first powerjam of the bout go to Attackbar and the score soaring to 185‐4, but not long afterwards Dazey Thunder and Zombie for Sheffield get lead jammer and together put another 5 points on the board.
The bout saw some impressive jamming skill from all of Sheffield’s jammers, as well as some tactical defensive play from the pack, but they were no match for the AARG green machines!
Team awards for Best Jammer went to Dazey Thunders, Best Blocker to Ruby Whacks and MVP to Rio. Despite the loss, SSRG had an amszing bout with AARG being fantastic hosts, and the girls can’t wait to see the Auld Reekie Rollergirls again.
