Hardaway comes to friend’s aid – gets championship in return

It’s almost six years to the week since Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway departed from the NBA in relatively self-effacing circumstances, without an NBA Championship to his name; something that seemed would be only be a matter of time when teamed up with Shaquille O’Neal at Orlando Magic in 1993.

However, it was not to be, as injuries, trades, and old Father Time all played their part, before December 12th, 2007, Hardaway was waived by Miami Heat after only 16 games, in order to free up a spot for Luke Jackson.

A series of events (as seen in this reel of footage from ESPN’s E:60) changes all of that misfortune that occurred in the four-time NBA All Star’s playing career, and also demonstrates what kind of man, and friend, Hardaway really is.
