IFAF Champions League – London blitzed in Paris
The London Blitz visited Paris on Saturday night to open their European campaign against Elancourt Templiers, but were humbled 51-14.
It must be noted that the Blitz had not undertaken any competitive fixture so far in 2014, but they will be hoping their opening BAFA game next weekend will have a completely different outcome to the one they experienced in France.
To have any chance of progressing further in the newly revamped IFAF tournament they will have to defeat another French side in their next scheduled European contest, this time with home advantage when they face Dauphin of Nice on May 17th.
Saturday’s encounter was a close affair in the first half with just a field goal separating the two sides after the first quarter, Templiers having the advantage. Blitz were playing steady and had two great drives resulting in touchdowns to put them ahead 14-10 at half time.
However, the Parisians defence soon stepped up a gear or two and forced errors from the Blitz offence, and by the end of a 28 point for third quarter for the Templiers, the result was pretty much done and dusted, it was just a case of how many they would win by.
They managed to add on another 13 points, shutting out London again in the process, to round off a humiliating night in the French capital.
