Jets add running back Kenmoe to their ranks
The Coventry Jets expanded their impressive rookie recruitment class this week with the signing of running back Vidal Kenmoe. The former Coventry Crusader Basketballer has changed sports for a shot at breaking into the Jets’ already deep backfield. “We’ve had some incredible running backs in the likes of Kofi Campbell, Steve Coles and Tony Perkins” said Head Coach Paul Rickhuss, continuing “but this is the most exciting I’ve seen in terms of raw potential”.
Kenmoe will compete for time with Shadrach McCook, who missed all of last season through injury, Mufaro Dune, fellow rookie Ellis Gatfield and junior team graduate Sean Hanlon. The smallest of the five Kenmoe knows that he’ll have to work hard to earn carries “I’m already in love with the game and the team” said the bubbly 24 year old “I had a very warm welcome on my first day and felt like I fitted straight into my new family. I’m committed to doing everything I can to make myself a better player for my new team-mates.”
A graduate of Coventry University, Kenmoe hasn’t turned his back on Basketball completely and has worked for the Crusaders as a coach in local schools and colleges around the City as well as at his Alma Matter Coventry University. As well as holding a Level 1 Coaching Badge he’s a Level 1 qualified Basketball Referee and has a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Bachelor in Aerospace Systems Engineering.
“I feel great about joining the Jets. It’s more than a football team, it’s a family” said the enthusiastic 24 year old from Cameroon “I hope to be one of the best running backs in the country and take the Jets to the championship. I also want to share my experiences, background and education with my teammates so that we can benefit from each other.”
