Lamble returns for Riders
Leicester Riders have announced that veteran centre, Barry Lamble, will return to play for the club for an eighth consecutive season.
Somerset-native Lamble has been a consistent part of the Riders’ progression in recent years and was named club captain last season; a campaign which resulted in an impressive three-trophy haul.
A graduate from the University of Bath, Lamble averaged 11 minutes per-game last season, as he shared duties inside the paint with fellow big-men Anthony Rowe and Pavol Losonsky; however his presence on the roster strengthens Leicester’s British influence, with Spaniard Jorge Calvo the only non-British player to have currently committed to Riders next season.
Since 2004, Lamble’s career has also seen him don the jerseys of Worcester Wolves, Birmingham Bullets, representing Taunton Tigers and Bath Romans prior to making the step up to the BBL.
Eight of his nine seasons playing in the British top-flight has seen him wearing the red and black of Leicester Riders.
In addition to his achievements at club level, Lamble has also been a regular for the English national side, featuring in the recent double-header against Scotland.
Lamble is Leicester’s fourth re-signing this summer, following in the path of forward Drew Sullivan, centre Anthony Rowe and guard Jorge Calvo, whilst British players Jamell Anderson and Connor Washington enter the next season of their respective long-term deals.
