Lions @ Jets – BBL Championship preview

BBL Championship

Sunday 28th October

Cheshire Jets vs London Lions

The morning after the night before, and the Jets will no doubt be thinking “What if?” – but that will need to be rid from their minds in order to build on the performance away to Leicester Riders.

Taking the unbeaten side, who now top the BBL Championship, into overtime, can be viewed as a result of Riders’ tiredness and preconception of the side they would face, or the real progress Cheshire have made over the past two weeks in the wake of James Hamilton’s suspension, 24 hours before his resignation, where they suffered an emphatic defeat to the hands of Worcester Wolves.

London Lions who, like the Jets, only have one league win to their name (against Surrey Heat), will be hoping that the effects of Saturday night have taken their toll, and with coming off short against other respected teams of late, will want to be sat happily mid-table by 7:30pm. Losing 89-83 in their last two outings, to Riders and Newcastle Eagles, it shows signs that the finished product may need some finer polishing.

Chez Marks, interim player-coach of Cheshire Jets, feels it is vital that his side make home a happy place: “Vince is a great coach who has been around in the BBL for a long time, and London haven’t come off on the right side so far this season, but we need to make sure that we win at home. Home is where we have to base ourselves from, and I think the guys, if they play hard, can do just that.”
